The 35-year-old also played in the Big Bash League with Brisbane Heat and Melbourne Renegades and is said to still possess good pace.
“I think he still bowls pretty good wheels from all reports,’’ Flinders club official Dwayne Field said.
“It was only three or four years ago he was still playing Shield cricket.
“It’s a really good get.’’
Gale lives in Somerville and played last season with Bayswater in the Victorian Sub District competition.
Field said he’d been chasing him for weeks and he would provide much-needed leadership and experience for Flinders in the MPCA’s top grade, Provincial.
Originally from Victoria, Gale played Premier Cricket with Ringwood where he was a two-time premiership player and club captain before moving to Queensland.
“We’ve always struggled to get that big gun,’’ Field said.
“We’ve realized we have to. There’s no use waiting three or four years’ time and you are in the lower grades and think we should have had a crack at it while we were up in Provincial.’’
Gale played in Ringwood’s back-to-back Premier Cricket flags in 2007-08 and 2008-09 before moving to Queensland.
He took 22 wickets across seven first-class games for the Bulls and made seven List A appearances for the state from 2011 to 2013.
Gale also represented Melbourne Renegades and Brisbane Heat in the Big Bash League.
Flinders won the Peninsula flag in 2017-18 before finishing second last in Provincial last season.
