Springvale South has been looking for a classy batsman.

Tonight it found one.

The Bloods have secured former Casey South Melbourne batsman Jordan Wyatt, strengthening their batting significantly.

The dashing right-hander stepped away from CSM after 84 First XI matches that brought him 1688 runs at an average of 21.92.

Opponents on the end of his hard hitting would agree he’s a better player than his stats suggest.

He scored one century and 10 half-centuries, with his ton coming against Ringwood at Casey Fields two years ago.

He needed only 75 deliveries to reach it, cracking 10 fours and 6 sixes along the way.

Former Swans coach Brian Keogh said at the time: “He just hits the ball so cleanly.

“Yesterday it looked like he had a narrow focus, to defend the good ball and hit the bad ball, and he’s got the ability to make balls that land in pretty good areas still be hit hard.

“He hit some big balls. His power off the back foot is unbelievable. It was a class hand.

“When he’s going like that, he’s as clean a hitter as there is. He’s got strong leavers and when he hits the ball, it absolutely stays hit.’’

From Gippsland, Wyatt made his debut for the Swans in 2012-13.

Springvale South president Jason Quirk said the club was chuffed to gain the Australian Under 16 representative.

He said it was as good as any signing the club had made in the past 10 years.

“I just said to Sharp (club great Andrew Sharp), if he’s gets going you’ll want to be there watching it,’’ Quirk said.

“I said to him, ‘He’s Tim Peebles-like’,’’ referring to the former South premiership batsman.

Wyatt’s arrival set the cap on a recruiting drive in which Springy South gained fast bowler Josh Dowling and all-rounder Blade Baxter.

But marquee recruit Jayde Herrick is unlikely to play because of injury.
