They call him “Bamma”.

And on Tuesday night, Delacombe Park big-hitter Ben Walker went wham-bam in a Twenty20 game at the Towehill Rd oval.

The 20-year-old clubbed 9 sixes and 6 fours to notch his maiden century, 114, against Baden Powell.

Delacombe was 0-126 off 13 overs when he brought up his ton.

It lifted the Parkers to 4-179.

In reply, Baden Powell made a strong fist of it but fell short, making 7-166.

Walker, the nephew of former Heat champion Luke Walker, got his nickname a few years ago. It was after his former Delacombe Park skipper Ricky Ramsdale; Bamma…as in baby Ramma.

And he hits the ball just as hard as Ramsdale.

“We’ve been waiting for it to happen,” Delacombe Park’s Justin Carroll said of Walker’s breakthrough century.

“He just hits the ball so big. We’re not surprised.

“He’s probably one of the biggest hitters I’ve ever seen. He’s incredible, he’s got massive strength. And he’s got a really good eye.”

Walker and Jonny Guthrie (40) shared a 160-run opening partnership to set up the Parkers’ second win in the Jack Peacock Cup T20 competition.

Baden Powell opener Rhys Elmi cracked 40 off 16 balls and Harry Maxwell hammered 59 to ensure an entertaining contest.

Old Peninsula also had a century maker, with its skipper Justin Grant peeling off 103 not out against Mornington at Alexandra Park.

It was the right-hander’s first ton for the Pirates since crossing from Mt Eliza two years ago.

Wade Pelzer cracked 30 and Tom La Brooy 29 as Old Peninsula finished with 4-191.

In reply, Mornington was dismissed for 125 in 17 overs. Pelzer nabbed 3-16 off three overs and Hugh Peacock 2-6.

Gloucestershire’s all-time leading T20 run maker Ian Cockbain laced 83 off 49 balls for Langwarrin in its win over Skye.

Baxter’s Todd Quinn blitzed 84 off 45 balls, with 13 fours and 3 sixes, against Tyabb.

The runs flowed at Boneo, with the Pandas going at better than 11 runs an over as they put up 5-234 off their 20 against Rye.

Chris Jobling put on a display of batting pyrotechnics with 83 off 37 balls, with 13 fours and 2 sixes.

Caolan O’Connor (69 off 36) and Jarvis Andersen (49no off 23) were also in devastating form.

Former Frankston Peninsula opener Nathan Harford clipped 71no off 54 balls to guide Carrum Downs to victory over Carrum.

James Quarmby (38) and Brad Lockhart (38) also impressed.

Michael Burke captured 4-27 as Long Island beat Pines to remain undefeated.
