SEAFORD footballers will be kicking goals on a bigger and better oval at their much loved RF Miles Reserve in time for the club’s centenary celebrations.
The oval has been commandeered as a worksite by the Level Crossing Removal Authority (LXRA) and looks more like a car park than a footy oval.
But the State Government last week promised to return it to better than former glory — resurfaced and ready to go for the 2020 season.

Football club president Dale O’Neil said the Tigers had been forced to “batten down the hatches” during their relocation to Belvedere Reserve.
But Mr O’Neil said returning to the club’s spiritual home would make the disruption worth it.
Club sponsorship manager Rob Edgerton said a revamped oval at RF Miles — 10m longer and 14m wider than the previous one — would provide a huge boost.
Mr Edgerton said potential recruits would be drawn to the bigger oval.
“It will make a massive difference for the players and will help with recruiting,” he said.
“It’s the spiritual home for the club. It’s a great venue.”
LXRA spokesman Adam Maguire said the new oval, including improved drainage, would be “up and running” for the 2020 football season.
Transport Minister Jacinta Allan and Carrum Labor MP Sonya Kilkenny also dropped into the club to pledge — if the ALP was re-elected next month — $2.6 million for a new pavilion at the reserve.
Frankston Council has committed $3.347 million to upgrades at RF Miles Reserve.
Mayor Colin Hampton said he was rapt with Labor’s pledge and called on the state Coalition, as well as federal politicians, to also make funding commitments.
