Four teens have been hospitalised after vicious attacks during Schoolies celebrations on the Mornington Peninsula.

Rosebud police said three boys were taken to hospital following two separate incidents on the weekend.

The first happened about 11.30pm in Rye when a group of five teens were walking home along Pasadena Road.

“Two of the five were hit with bricks from behind and knocked out,” Acting Sergeant Kade Murphy said.

“It would appear that the offenders picked up bricks from the side of the road and used them to hit the victims in what seems to be an unprovoked attack.”

The boys spent the night in hospital and a third member of the group was also treated for injuries.

Sergeant Murphy said the attack was being investigated by the Mornington Peninsula Crime Investigation Unit.

It is understood the victims were students from Penleigh and Essendon Grammar.

However, Sergeant Murphy said it was unlikely the teens were targetted because they attended a private school.

Another teenage boy was taken to hospital on Saturday night after being hit in the head with a bottle while walking in Sorrento.

“He was on the main street when it happened,” Sergeant Murphy said.

“He was treated for mild concussion, but it’s part of an active investigation so we can’t say much more.”

A third incident in Rye on Sunday night was also being investigated.

“That one also took place in the town’s main street but no one was injured,” Sergeant Murphy said.

Police also dealt with multiple drug and alcohol-related incidents during the first week of the two week party.
