Patterson Lake’s man desperate search for beloved fluff ball missing for more than a week

Forget homemade posters taped to power poles — when this Patterson Lakes couple lost their Instagram celebrity cat, they decided to go to extreme lengths, despite acknowledging their neighbours might think them “insane”.

Two cat lovers left devastated after their beloved pet snuck out through a window have gone to extreme lengths to get him back.

Brett Cooper and Emi Uria say they “won’t give up” looking for Possum the persian cat, who vanished from their Patterson Lakes home on November 25.

And instead of opting for the usual handmade missing animal poster stuck to a power pole with masking tape, the couple have plastered their desperate plea on a gigantic billboard at the front of their Gladesville Blvd home.

The board was donated by local business Ash Marton Realty.

“I’ve been out every night around 2am with a torch looking for him … some neighbours must think I’m insane,” Mr Cooper said.

“Possum has been with me through everything. When I’ve had ups and downs (in life), he’s been my constant (support).

“He’s a funny looking thing, so someone must have noticed him … I’m sure someone knows something.”

The Carpet Court sales representative said the five-year-old cat, who was born deaf and has his own Instagram account, would usually come home after a late night wander.

“There hasn’t been a night where he hasn’t slept near Emi and I … he’s such a relaxed, docile cat,” he said.

Despite having high hopes their little friend will return, the couple said they would have “no judgments” if someone came forward with information, regardless of whether Possum was alive or had passed away.

“If someone has a dog who has killed him, that’s OK, just drop a note in our letterbox and we can put it all to bed,” Mr Cooper said.

The couple urged anyone with information to send a message to Possum’s Instagram page or contact the Patterson Lakes Animal Hospital.

“We didn’t know we could be so attached to something … we love him like anything else,” Mr Cooper said.

“Animals don’t just disappear … he’s out there somewhere.”
