Merinda skate park explosion shakes neighbours
An explosion that blew a hole through a solid steel base at a Cranbourne skate park on the weekend has left neighbours rattled. Police have released CCTV footage of the blast and are warning people to check their backyards for loose shrapnel.

Neighbours have been left shaken after a skate park explosion in Cranbourne on the weekend.
The alarm was raised on Sunday evening after an explosion was heard around Merinda Park skate park at about 10.15pm.
Investigators believe an “improvised explosive device” placed on a ramp was the cause of the damage.
A hole was blown through a solid steel base, causing damage to the wall frame.
Police are appealing for three men captured on CCTV footage riding bikes in the area to come forward.

The three men are described as caucasian with slim builds, believed to be aged between 15-25.
Officers are trying to determine whether or not the trio were involved and their reasons for being in the area.
One male had short dark hair and wore shorts and a singlet top. A second wore a baseball cap, T-shirt and shorts and the third also wore a baseball cap as well as long pants and a T-shirt.
Neighbours have also been urged to check their backyards for any metal fragments or shrapnel that could have come from the device.
Police have advised residents not to touch them, but to call police.
