A 17-year-old boy was stabbed during a fight at a shopping centre car park in Epping last night. Parts of a carpark busy with Christmas shoppers were closed for several hours.

A teenager was stabbed during a fight at a shopping centre car park in Epping on Thursday night.
The boy, 17, was walking with another 17-year-old boy through the Pacific Epping shopping plaza near Cooper St, in Melbourne’s north, about 7pm when two men got out of a car and approached them.
Police said a fight started and one of the men produced a weapon.

The 17-year-old from Lalor received stab wounds to the upper body and was taken to the Royal Melbourne hospital in a serious condition.
His 17-year-old friend, from Epping, suffered minor injuries.
By the time police arrived the offenders had fled.
Parts of the carpark were blocked off by a cordon for multiple hours and large crowds of Christmas shoppers had to ask permission from police before they could leave.
Whittlesea detectives are investigating the circumstances surrounding the incident and want to speak to any witnesses or anyone that had dash cam footage.
Witnesses said there was a major police presence and SES crews were on scene.
Meanwhile police were also investigating a stabbing in Braybrook, in the western suburbs.
Police said a 54-year-old man was stabbed in Market St about 9pm Thursday and walked to a nearby licensed premises where he raised the alarm.
The Melton man was taken to hospital in a serious condition.
