The school has partnered with Peninsula Aquatic Recreation Centre (PARC) to bring the growing trend to the people.
Frankston Mayor Colin Hampton said he was excited to give the unconventional new trend a try.
“Personally I’m a little past trying to attempt a downward dog myself, but I definitely encourage others to roll out their mats and give it a go,” Cr Hampton said.
Pet’s Day Out will offer stacks of activities for humans and animals alike with dachshund races, native wildlife displays, a meet and greet with television personality Dr Katrina Warren and a best dressed pet parade.
Pet registration and free microchipping will also be provided on the day.
Dogs attending the event must be vaccinated and kept on a lead, and all other pets must be securely contained.
Pet’s Day Out will be held on Sunday, October 14 at Ballam Park.
