Group of Melbourne teens charged after alleged stabbing at train station

A group of teenagers have been charged after a 16-year-old boy was allegedly stabbed near a train station in Melbourne’s southeast.

Seven young teenagers have been charged after another teen was allegedly stabbed outside a train station in Ashburton on Saturday April 1.

It is alleged a teenager was set upon by a group of up to nine young men outside the train station on Welfare Parade about 6.20pm.

Police have been told a 16-year-old boy from Surrey Hills was stabbed with an edged weapon and was taken to hospital.

They have also been told two other 16-year-old boys had their shoes stolen before the group of alleged offenders ran away towards High St.

Investigators have charged seven teens in relation to the incident and are yet to find one other person believed to have been involved.

  • A 15-year-old boy has been charged with armed robbery, affray, intent to cause injury and recklessly cause injury.
  • Three 15-year-old boys have been charged with robbery and affray.
  • Two 14-year-old boys have been charged with robbery and affray.
  • A 16-year-old boy has been charged with robbery and affray.

All seven have been bailed to appear at a children’s court.

A 14-year-old Kew boy handed himself into police and has been released pending summons.
