A quick-thinking teen who suffered a terrifying sexual assault in Frankston last month managed to snap a photo of her alleged attacker before he fled.
Detectives from the Frankston sexual offences and child abuse unit understand the 17-year-old girl was sitting on a bench seat on Young St opposite the Frankston Train Station about 11.40am on June 29 when the attack occurred.
They’ve been told the man approached the girl before sitting next to her and allegedly sexually assaulting her.
He tried to get away, walking towards Beach St, but the switched-on teen managed to take a photograph of the man on her smart phone.
Detectives have released an image and CCTV footage of the man.
He is perceived to be caucasian in appearance, with short spiky dark hair and aged between 25 and 40-years-old.
At the time, he was wearing jeans and a blue T-shirt with ‘New York’ motif on the front.
His fingernails were painted, and he was wearing distinctive mustard coloured shoes.
The investigation remains ongoing and police are appealing for anyone who recognises the man to contact Crime Stoppers on 1800 333 000 or submit a confidential crime report at crimestoppersvic.com.au
