A former cop accused of pointing a gun at a fellow police officer inside a station has been remanded in custody.
Christopher John Kerley also allegedly repeatedly bashed a motel room neighbour and threw a mug of hot soup in his face.
The 62-year-old is also accused of knocking out his own son, and allegedly threatened parking officers in a bid to try to get out of paying a fine in an alcohol-fuelled crime spree.
Mr Kerley faced a bail application at Dandenong Magistrates’ Court on Wednesday over a series of charges including reckless cause injury, threats to kill, assaults and weapons possessions.
In February last year Mr Kerley, who was a serving senior constable at the time, is accused of going into a police station in a drunken state and picking up a realistic imitation Uzi machine gun from the firearms area.
He then allegedly walked into another room and pointed it at another officer, leaving the alleged victim, who didn’t know it was fake, terrified that he would be shot.
Police also allege he repeatedly attacked a Malvern East motel neighbour, punching and kicking him and on one occasion throwing a mug of hot soup in his face, and allegedly punched his son, knocking him out and breaking his nose.
In court his lawyer said he couldn’t continue the application because the man who owned the address he would hopefully be bailed to is in hospital and unavailable to give evidence.
Magistrate Tony Burns said unfortunately that would mean Mr Kerley would have to spend at least another two weeks in custody.
He is listed to appear in court again on September 9.
