Burger Bae Cheltenham: Popular Bayside burger store opens second venue

They’ve been voted some of Melbourne’s best burgers, now a Bayside favourite has opened a new store in the south east.

Burger Bae has opened in Cheltenham.

Burger fans in Melbourne’s south east are in luck, with a popular business opening a new store in Cheltenham.

After opening its flagship store in Sandringham at the end of 2019, Burger Bae has won a loyal following, and was voted as having some of the city’s best burgers by Secret Melbourne.

Now owner Kevin Yang has opened a new store in a “hidden pocket” on Railway Rd Cheltenham.

Along with its signature burgers, Burger Bae also serves loaded fries and shakes.

Mr Yang said a focus on presentation and the use of quality of ingredients helped Burger Bae stand out in the competitive Melbourne burger scene.

“From the beef, to the vegies, and the bread, everything is locally sourced,” he said.

“We spend a lot of time curating ingredients and sauces.

Shakes and fries are also on offer at Burger Bae.

The burgers have been voted some of the best in Melbourne.

“We want customers to feel like if they see us on Instagram or social media that’s exactly what they are going to get on their plate.”

Mr Yang said the store’s double bacon burger was one of the most popular items on the menu.

“It has double the bacon and has double of everything so it satisfies most cravings,” he said.

“The other one is our Aussie Bae – our version of a burger with the lot.

“It just reminds me of growing up locally and having an old school fish and chip shop burger with the lot.

“We want to keep an element of simplicity but make our burgers sophisticated at the same time.”

The store’s crinkle cut loaded chips served with Cajun beef, salsa and chilli mayo are also popular with customers.

Bright pastel colours greet customers dining in at Burger Bae.

Mr Yang said the support of customers meant a lot, especially as the business started at the same time Covid hit.

“We’ve had overwhelming support,” he said.

“We went into a market that was saturated with brands, and having the positive feedback and people loving our brand helps keep up our passion to keep coming and delivering our best.”
