A TEENAGE boy has been arrested after an armed hold up at a Dandenong North bottle shop where a police officer fired at a stolen car.
Police swooped on a 17-year-old on Sunday, charging him with theft, assault and criminal damage and remanding him to face court.
It’s alleged him and a Heatherton man, 18, smashed the front windows of North Dandy Liquor Store armed with hammer and knife as they unsuccessfully tried to get back in to the Dunearn Rd shop on June 6.
The brave shopkeeper, a 26-year-old Glen Waverley man, defended his store from the thugs who returned after leaving their belongings behind while stealing alcohol about 4.30pm.
The pursuit of the young men and a woman, who was driving the stolen Nissan Pulsar during the robbery, became so dangerous that officers were forced to fire a shot in defence.

POLICE OFFICER FIRES AT STOLEN CAR IN DANDENONG
Dandenong crime investigation unit detective Senior Constable Tony Lavars said three hours after the robbery police spotted the stolen car outside the Comfort Inn on the Princes Highway, Dandenong.
He said when the police car parked in front of the getaway car the driver reversed and drove at officers, with one firing his gun as he attempted to evade the Nissan.
“Officers approached the vehicle before the driver reversed and collided into two parked vehicles and accelerated towards police,” Sen-Constable Jackson said.
“The officer fired one shot at the vehicle before the driver fled onto Gwenda St.”
The car was found dumped on Gwenda St about 7.15pm and about an hour later police arrested the Heatherton man at Dandenong Railway Station.
He was charged with theft, assault, car theft and criminal damage and was bailed to face Dandenong Magistrates’ Court on August 1.
It’s believed the Nissan Pulsar was stolen from Clow St, Dandenong, sometime between June 5 and 6.
Police are still searching for the woman driving the getaway car. Anyone with information is urged to contact Crime Stoppers on 1800 333 000.
