Detectives have extradited a Robinvale man from Victoria after he allegedly assaulted a police officer then fled custody in NSW earlier this year.
The 27-year-old man was arrested at a property at Robinvale about 10.30am Wednesday.
Police had been looking for the man after he allegedly assaulted a female sergeant while in custody at Griffith Police Station, before fleeing in a waiting vehicle earlier this year.
The matter was referred to investigators from the State Crime Command’s Robbery and Serious Crime Squad’s Strike Force Cobra.
After the man’s arrest on Wednesday NSW Police Force officers applied for and were granted the man’s extradition to NSW at Mildura Magistrates Court.
He was escorted to Dareton Police Station, where two outstanding warrants were executed.
Additionally, the man was served with a Court Attendance Notice for the offence of possessing a shortened firearm (not pistol) without authority and possessing a prohibited drug.
He was refused bail to appear at Wentworth Local Court on Thursday.
Strike Force Cobra was established by the Robbery and Serious Crime Squad in November 2021 to locate and apprehend violent and high-risk fugitives.
