COLDSTREAM’s Rochford Wines hosted its biggest A Day On The Green season yet with nearly 50,000 fans enjoying live music at the winery this summer.

And organisers are working to secure major international and Australian acts to make next summer’s season even bigger.

ADOTG founder Michael Newton said he was rapt with the winery’s six concerts, which included Sir Elton John, Robbie Williams, Human Nature, Stevie Nicks and the Village People.

He described the season as “definitely the best one we’ve ever had” in the 15 years he’s held concerts at the venue.

“If A Day On The Green was a footy team, Rochford would be our home ground,” Mr Newton said.

“We really enjoy putting on shows out there, it’s a venue close to our heart, and we’re grateful to all the customers that keep coming back, especially the people who live locally.”

Mr Newton said Rochford Wines would again host “four to six” concerts next summer, one of which would be an Australian rock mega-bill.

He said the RNB Vine Days series, which made its debut this year with Boys II Men and TLC, would also return.

“It’s going to be really tough to top what we just had, but there a couple of artists on the radar right now who are up there with what we had this summer,” Mr Newton said.

“There are so many balls up in the air right now, and some haven’t landed just yet.”

Mr Newton said the winery would host its 70th ADOTG show next summer and he paid tribute to owner Helmut Konecsny for his ongoing support and investment in the venue.

He said he hoped to announce Rochford Wines’ first ADOTG concert for next summer by June.
