Armed robbery on Melbourne bus

Police are appealing for help to track down two men who they believe can assist with their inquiries following an alleged armed mugging on a public bus that left a teenager cold, stripped and terrified in Melbourne’s inner suburbs.

The 17-year-old victim was waiting for the 250 bus near Rushall railway station in Fitzroy North when he was approached by two men about 2.05am on March 25.

After getting on the bus, the two men, who police believe can assist with their inquiries — one described as caucasian and the other African — seated themselves next to the teenager.

As the bus began to leave the bus stop, the victim felt what he thought was a weapon pressed against his ribs.

The men then allegedly demanded their victim hand over his iphone, fleeced jumper and shoes.

Investigators believe the men got off the bus at the Park St/ Rathdowne St bus stop in Carlton North about 2.10am.

“The victim wasn’t physically injured,” a Victoria Police spokeswoman said.

Police have released CCTV footage and images of two males they believe may be able to assist with their inquiries.

One of the men is 182cm and with a slim build, and was wearing a blue jumper, a white puffer jacket and black runners.

The second male is 152cm with a slim build, and was wearing a black puffer jacket, white runners and camouflage patterned pants.
