The stench of weed wafting from a 20-year-old Glen Waverley man’s car during a traffic stop led police to the trafficker’s extensive drug stash stored on the passenger’s seat.

Haron Massood, 20, pleaded guilty to drug trafficking and drug possession at the Ringwood Magistrates’ Court on Wednesday.

He was pulled over for a routine traffic stop after he tried to drive away from police on July 18 last year.

When officers approached his window, they could smell marijuana inside the car.

Massood gave police a small container of weed when asked about the smell which prompted police to search the rest of his car.

Inside they found 240 grams of weed, more than 50 grams of cocaine, 80 tabs of LSD, 33 grams of magic mushrooms, 73 ecstasy pills, 4 grams of MDMA, ketamine and more than $5,400 in cash.

Massood was taken to the Box Hill police station where police found more pills inside his pants.

The court heard he was trafficking to fund his own drug addiction.

Massood told the court he “regrets” what he did and has since quit drugs so he could work as a forklift driver.

His matter was adjourned until June 24 for the defence to provide reports to the magistrate before he is sentenced.
