A man has been charged following the sexual assault of a primary school-aged girl in Upper Ferntree Gully.
Knox sexual offences and child abuse detectives arrested the Upwey man following an investigation into an alleged assault that happened on the 11-year-old girl on Willow Rd, about 4.30pm on Saturday, September 5.
Victoria Police leading Senior Constable Adam West said police arrested a 43-year-old man on the Ferny Creek Trail in Ferntree Gully at 5pm on Friday, September 11.
Sen-Constable West said the man was charged with sexual assault of a child under 16 and possess child abuse material.
He was bailed to appear at the Ringwood Magistrates’ Court at a later date.
