A seven-storey luxury apartment building will be built between Ringwood’s two crime-fighting complexes.
Developers Melstone will create the Ringwood St project, approved by Maroondah Council in August.

Signage is already up at the 33-35 Ringwood St site, which is between the Ringwood police station and the Ringwood Magistrates’ Court.
The building will include 28 ‘oversized’ apartments on six storeys and a cafe and restaurant on the ground level.
Melstone managing director Evan Zhang said the developer did comprehensive research and got a feasibility report before they purchased the site.
He said the site had “many unique benefits that are highly desirable for our audience”.
“We have of course taken into consideration the neighbouring buildings, but we feel strongly that the convenient location, the lifestyle offerings and amenities … along with the comfortable size, quality finishes and design features of our apartments are the most important features for our buyers,” Mr Zhang said.
Maroondah Mayor Rob Steane said the council received two submissions and considered a variety of factors when deciding on the project’s permit.
They included the context of the area and the build form and land use outcomes desired for the Ringwood Activity Centre.
Ringwood Senior Sergeant Colin Andrews envisaged the project would have no impact on the station’s operational services or parking.
Maroondah Leader understands apartment sales will begin in the next few months.
Mr Zhang said Melstone was hoping to begin construction in July with completion by the end of 2020.
