Real estate agents have put the final release of apartments on sale for the 233 East development on Maroondah Hwy, tipped for completion in June 2019.

It will be the tallest building in Maroondah and soar above its nearby neighbour, the six-storey Sage Hotel next to Eastland.

Developer HY Property got approval for the project in 2011, which will have 94 apartments over nine storeys and two retail stores on the ground floor.

Ray White Manningham’s Fang Lu said 70 per cent of apartments had been sold and he expected high interest during the final release.

Mr Lu said the majority of buyers so far were homeowners and downsizers in Maroondah and surrounding suburbs.

He said a major strength of the development was its close proximity to Ringwood railway station and Eastland.

233 East will hold the title of Maroondah’s tallest building until the arrival of the planned 14-storey Evita apartment complex opposite Ringwood Lake.

The $80-million development, at 301 Maroondah Hwy, was rejected by Maroondah Council but overturned at the Victorian Civil and Administrative Tribunal.

It will feature 128 dwellings and 94 serviced apartments.

Evita’s developer Ninety Four Feet has the project in “pre-launch” status on its website.
