Ringwood Residences, Ninety Four Feet building 82-apartment block

A MASSIVE $100 million apartment complex in Melbourne’s outer east will feature a luxury hotel and 82 apartments.

How will our future lifestyles be affected by housing in Melbourne?

A 16-STOREY tower is set to become Maroondah’s tallest building by 2020.

Apartment sales have begun for the $100 million Ringwood Residences project on a prime parcel of land at 301 Maroondah Hwy.

The tower will be built behind shops and offices on the corner of the Ringwood Bypass opposite Ringwood Lake.

It was first proposed and originally rejected by Maroondah Council in 2012, but was later approved following revised plans in 2015.

The tower, designed by developer Ninety Four Feet, will feature 82 luxury apartments from level seven upwards, ranging in price from $350,000 to $800,000.

Maroondah Leader understands a 165-room hotel will operate on the first seven storeys, with developers linking the InterContinental Hotel Group to the project.

Ringwood Residences sales manager Lucas Giannotti said five apartments had already sold before the project’s official launch on the weekend.

He said the project would be a new benchmark for Ringwood, and was designed to appeal to first homebuyers and downsizers.

“This is really going to improve that end of Maroondah Hwy,” he said.

“The views and the architecture are something that will take Ringwood to a new level.”

A dedicated sales office for the project has also opened at the Midway Arcade near Eastland.

Mr Giannotti said construction of the tower would begin in January or February and be completed by the end of 2020.

InterContinental Hotel Group spokesman Chris Waite said the group had not signed any hotel management agreements at the tower but was working with Ninety Four Feet on a new project in New Zealand.

Ringwood Residences is one of two giant ‘gateway buildings’ coming to Ringwood.

A 19-storey, three-tower project — The Ring — is planned for the former Chippys Outdoors site at 28-30 Maroondah Hwy.

The development was originally planned by Orion International, which recently sold the permit to a new developer. The project’s timeline is unclear.

In a statement, Maroondah Mayor Nora Lamont said the council was “excited to see this high quality development continue” as it contributed to the vision and objectives for the Ringwood Metropolitan Activity Centre masterplan.
