An eScooter rider has died in hospital after a month-long light fight for life following a crash on Ringwood’s outskirts.
Police have confirmed a 39-year-old Croydon man died after the crash on Hobart St, between Mullum Mullum Rd and Warrandyte Rd, about 7am on Thursday, February 2.
The circumstances surrounding the incident are unclear, but the male rider was rushed to hospital with life-threatening injuries.
Police confirmed the man’s death on Thursday, March 2.
The man’s death is one of the first fatal incidents involving the transport method recorded in Melbourne’s east, and the second to take place across Melbourne in February.
On February 10, a male eScooter rider in his 20s died when he collided with a Volxwagon station wagon on the Princes Hwy at the intersection of Raven Cresent in Narre Warren.
E-scooter deaths are included in Victoria’s road toll, which stands at 64 lives compared with 48 lives at the same time last year.
