One person has been taken to Dandenong hospital in a serious condition as firefighters work to clear up a diesel spill after a Mt Burnett truck crash.
Pakenham Rd remains closed as emergency services are on scene after two semi-trailers collided about 11am.
It is understood a call to 000 was made about 11.01am today following reports of a deafening bang was heard in the area.
A CFA spokesperson said it’s believed two semi-trailers collided when one came around a winding bend.
The EPA has been called into to help clean up the diesel spill with fears the leak has contaminated local waterways.
Cardinia SES captain Shane Honey said it was a head on crash and heavy haulage specialists were working on towing the two large trucks away.
He said crews managed to free one man who was trapped.
An Ambulance Victoria spokesperson said one person was in a serious condition while the other was stable.
“We received the call just after 11 am,” the spokesperson said.
“Paramedics are currently assessing two people at the scene and the air ambulance helicopter has been dispatched to the job.
“It’s likely two people will be going to hospital.”
The road has been blocked to drivers and a possible diesel spill will need to be cleaned.
