NEW CAFE THE TOAST OF THE TOWN
The masterminds behind the Yarra Ranges chocolate factory, co-owners Jason Stockton and Anya Tran, have come up with the ideal way to spend Easter Sunday — indulging in the chocolate heaven of an Easter Sundae, of course.
From Monday, April 15 through to Monday, April 22, the Olinda cafe will be serving chocolate sundaes served in a bowl made from half a giant chocolate egg.
Customers will be able to choose what type of chocolate their bowl is made from, before selecting from the homemade flavours of ice-cream and delicious sauces and toppings.
Mr Stockton said diners could go for the ultimate chocolate feast, or infuse their dessert with lashings of caramel or maple syrup and sprinklings of crushed cookies and flaked almonds.
Vegans can enjoy a dark chocolate version of the dish covered in coconut caramel sauce.
Only Mine’s cafe on Mt Dandenong Tourist Rd will be open everyday over the Easter long weekend from 10am to 5pm.
Mr Stockton said the chocolate factory was busily preparing for the period, and would do its best to have its handmade Easter eggs still in stock on Easter Sunday.
He said Good Friday was the busiest day of the year last year, despite having just opened.
For Easter this year the chocolatiers are making a collection of golden eggs, bronzed eggs and beautiful speckled eggs, inspired by Mrs Tran’s love of quail eggs.
And as with pretty much all their chocolates, there are vegan, dairy free and gluten free options.
The eggs are available online at onlymine.com.au for express delivery around Australia for those who can’t make it to the factory.
Buyers can also include a free gift note to send the sweet treats as gifts.
The business is taking orders now, offering the option to delay delivery until the week leading up to Easter.
To make sure the chocolates arrive in time for the occasion Mr Stockton suggested ordering Victorian deliveries no later than Sunday, April 21.
