It was once a Barnacle Bills, then a popular burger restaurant, now a site on Ferntree Gully’s “Golden Mile” could get a new lease on life.

The site of a former popular Ferntree Gully burger restaurant has hit the market.

The old On It Burgers site, at 930 Burwood Highway, also once home to a Barnacle Bills seafood restaurant, is on the market for $2.95m, and could reopen as another restaurant.

Described as a “rare corner site” on Burwood Highway’s Golden Mile, the site would suit multiple potential development designs, including repurposing the existing building, appealing to an owner occupier, developer or investor.

The building on the site has been heavily vandalised with graffiti since On It Burgers closed in 2020, with wire fencing now erected around the site.

Selling agent Russell Bartlett, from Professionals Mooroolbark, said the site was zoned Industrial 1, and had a broad range of potential uses.

“It could be sold to somebody who might renovate the existing building for another food use or it could be demolished and people could apply for the appropriate permit to put a showroom or something like that there,” he said.

Mr Bartlett said there had been interest in the site from potential buyers looking to keep it as a food outlet, and others interested in potential medical use.

He said the building on the site was structurally in “good nick”, but needed a complete renovation.

He said the location of the site, at the end of Dorset Rd and fronting Burwood Highway, was the main drawcard.

“It’s a fantastic location,” he said.
