A popular Ferntree Gully restaurant voted as having the best burgers in Australia has shut its doors, leaving loyal customers disappointed. So what went wrong?

Popular Ferntree Gully restaurant On It Burgers has shut its doors.

The Burwood Highway restaurant is listed as permanently closed on Google and a sign on its door reads: “Closed until further notice”.

When Leader visited the restaurant this week it was closed with chairs stacked on tables.

A phone message tells customers: “We are currently closed on Sunday the 16th and will reopen on the 17th.” It’s not clear what month the message was recorded.

Its website lists the restaurant as being closed for pick-up.

About 100 people commented on a post about the possible closure of the restaurant on Facebook group the Ferntree Gully Noticeboard, with many people saying they were sad to see it go.

The creations from On It Burgers were named Australia’s best by users of home-delivery service Menulog in 2017.

On It Burgers also took out the title of Australia’s favourite summer restaurant in the Menulog awards last year.

The award was based on order numbers, ratings and customer satisfaction.

The site at 930 Burwood Highway was previously home to a KFC.

Leader was unable to contact the owner of the restaurant.
