A new Bayswater cafe has taken millennial hipsters’ favourite breakfast dish and whacked it on an American favourite.
The Guilded Rose is serving waffles with a variety of sweet and savoury flavours — including smashed avocado. The dish is completed with feta cheese and two poached eggs.
Cafe owner Jim Sheppard said he and wife Lorraine, who hails from Virginia, wanted to bring a taste of the US to Bayswater.

The cafe takes its name from online video game World Of Warcraft and offers other traditional American fare including barbecue ribs, hot dogs, pulled beef and buffalo wings.
There’s also hot and cold drinks, pies and ice-cream sundaes for dessert.
“The area needed something new, and we thought we could bring something different and unique here,” Mr Sheppard said.
The cafe is the duo’s first venture in hospitality — Mr Sheppard was previously an auto parts worker.
“We wanted to do something for ourselves and my wife had quite a few family recipes,” he said.
“The number of people that have been welcoming us is quite astonishing, there’s a strong community feel out there.”
The Guilded Rose is at 22 Station St, Bayswater.
