TWO kind-hearted good Samaritans have been reunited with a young mum they comforted after a horrific car crash at Knox Shopping Centre in 2012.

Leigh Chapman and Amanda Hobba, both of Ferntree Gully, came forward after reading Elyse Pratt’s story in Knox Leader.

Ms Pratt pleaded for public help to find a woman who comforted her while she was trapped in her car after the crash. Ms Pratt was turning right onto Burwood Highway on a green arrow, at the intersection near Hungry Jack’s, when she was T-boned by a man who went through a red light.

Ms Pratt, who was 28-weeks pregnant, had to be cut out of her car and was rushed to the Royal Melbourne Hospital, where she had an emergency caesarean.

Her son Levi, now aged 3, was rushed to intensive care and spent nearly three months in hospital. Ms Pratt also suffered serious injuries.

Although the woman Ms Pratt was looking for has not yet been found, Ms Pratt was thrilled to meet Mr Chapman and Ms Hobba last week.

She was moved to tears and couldn’t describe how much their actions meant. She said she had never forgot their kindness.

After the accident, Mr Chapman rushed to Ms Pratt’s aid, removing an airbag and holding her hand.

He said the accident was still vivid in his mind, and he was happy to see Ms Pratt was doing well.

“It’s great to see little Levi running around,” Mr Chapman said.

Ms Hobba was able to ring Ms Pratt’s mum and let her know about the accident, and also spoke to Elyse and comforted her.

The three, all parents to young children, now plan to keep in touch.
