WorkSafe Victoria said the worker fell through a polycarbonate roof panel on the shed at Garden Express last Wednesday.

The 66-year-old man was taken to hospital with serious head injuries, but died on Friday.

WorkSafe is investigating the incident.

Garden Express describes itself on its website as Australia’s largest online and mail order garden supplier.

Leader understands that staff at the business have been left shaken in the wake of the incident.

The death brings the workplace fatality toll to 27 for 2022, six fewer than at the same time last year.

A beloved grandfather from Melbourne’s south east also lost his life in a workplace accident last Wednesday.

“Tony” Alessandro Volta, 82, became trapped inside a harvester on a Ure Rd farm in Gembrook, only a 30-minute drive from the plant nursery.
