Melba Highway closed in Yea, driver injured after truck rollover

A major rural highway in Victoria’s northeast has reopened after being closed for more than seven hours following a frightening truck rollover.

A truck driver has been hospitalised after his B-double rolled onto its side, causing part of a major road in Victoria’s northeast to be closed off for several hours.

Emergency services responded to the incident on the Melba Highway about midnight on Tuesday, at the intersection of Tea Creek Rd.

Police believe the driver, who was the only occupant, lost control of his truck before it rolled onto its side.

Paramedics treated the 50-year-old man for upper body injuries at the scene and he was taken to Box Hill Hospital in a stable condition.

Police closed off the Melba Highway between Ti Tree Creek Rd and Nashs Rd in both directions as they completed investigations.

The section of road reopened about 9.30am on Tuesday, more than seven hours after the incident.
