A nightmare neighbour has been jailed after he terrorised the residents of his Chadstone apartment block by lighting a fire, painting profanities on their homes and threatening to kill them.
Paul Anderson, 65, pleaded guilty to breaching court orders and damaging his neighbour’s homes in the Moorabbin Magistrates’ Court on Thursday.
His reign of terror started in February 2024, when he hurled abuse at a neighbour from his fence line.
“Your gonna die tonight,” Anderson said.
“You got weapons?”
During another outburst, he painted “f--k off” onto a neighbour’s home, punctured the fly screen on a door, stole a resident’s security camera and yelled profanities.
Several incidents were filmed by neighbours.
Anderson was arrested in January after the bin fire — which caused extensive damage and reached above the fence line — broke out around midnight.
Anderson spent 65 days in pre-sentence detention after his arrest after he was refused bail in January.
He was sentenced to time served and ordered to pay $4500 to repair his neighbours’ homes.
