Drivers got a shock when they spotted a horse rider in the Mooroolbark McDonald’s drive-through.

Fiona Kristoffersen shared a photo she took of the rider on Tuesday night on the Mooroolbark Community Facebook page.

“Definitely had to take a second look and couldn’t believe it,” she said.

“Then I had to take a pic just to prove it.”

Ms Kristoffersen said she didn’t wait to see if the rider got food but she was waiting at the drive-through window.

“I had just finished a class at the gym and was parked next to the drive-through.

“Was just getting into my car and she rode along the drive so I’m assuming she also put in her order first.”

A McDonald’s Australia spokesperson said it had strict safety policies in place and did not allow customers on horseback through the drive-through, for the safety of the rider, its employees, fellow customers and the animal.

“We have reported this incident to the local police to ensure it doesn’t happen again,” the spokesperson said.
