An elderly Croydon South woman has died after she was hit by a car while crossing Morinda St in Ringwood East.

An 81-year-old Croydon South woman had died after she was hit by a car while crossing Morinda St in Ringwood East.
Knox highway patrol Leading Senior Constable Andrew Trace said the incident occurred at 8.20am on February 28.
He said 34-year-old Camberwell woman turned right out of Railway Ave and knocked over the elderly woman who was using a walking frame.

The road was closed for four hours while major collision unit officers were on the scene.
Leading Sen-Constable Trace said the 81-year-old woman suffered head injuries and was taken by ambulance to The Alfred hospital in a critical condition.
She remained in a critical condition on Tuesday and a hospital spokeswoman confirmed the woman had died when contacted by Maroondah Leader on Thursday morning.
Leading Sen-Constable Trace said the 34-year-old driver was assisting police with their inquiries.
CROYDON HILLS
A woman copped more than $700 in fines and five demerit points for speeding in a school zone on Plymouth Rd.
According to a post on the Eyewatch — Maroondah Police Service Area Facebook page, highway patrol officers clocked the 33-year-old woman doing 53km/h in a 40km/h zone at 3.30pm on February 25.
She also allegedly failed to stop when a children’s crossing supervisor displayed a stop sign. Officers gave her a $322 fine and three demerit points for speeding, and another $403 fine and two demerit points for failing to stop at the crossing.
CROYDON NORTH
Drivers on Exeter Rd had a scare when a drunk-driver began driving erratically on the wrong side of the road.
According to a post on the Eyewatch — Maroondah Police Service Area Facebook page, an onlooker called police to report the behaviour at 11.20pm on February 23.
Officers then tracked down and spoke to a 38-year-old woman in Ringwood North a short time later.
She was arrested and taken to Ringwood police station where she recorded a blood alcohol reading of .173.
The woman’s licence was immediately suspended for 12 months and she will face court on drink-driving offences at a later date.
RINGWOOD
Two vehicles were towed and a teenager was fined following a peak-hour smash on the Ringwood Bypass.
Knox highway patrol Leading Senior Constable Andrew Trace said an 18-year-old Lilydale man drove his Subaru Liberty into the back of a Nissan Dualis Wagon, being driven by a mother with two children.
Leading Sen-Constable Trace said the crash happened on February 27 at 6pm near the Maroondah Highway turn-off and caused two city bound lanes of the bypass to be closed for half an hour.
Leading Sen-Constable Trace said no one was injured in the smash but the 18-year-old man was fined $564 and received four demerit points for driving too close to another vehicle and not displaying P-plates.
