Maroondah Highway, Croydon: Car fire after earlier collision
The terrifying moment a woman was forced to ditch her car after it caught fire in the middle of the Maroondah Highway in Croydon has been captured on camera. And police believe the blaze started after an earlier crash. WATCH FOOTAGE

A lucky driver managed to stop her car in the middle of Maroondah Highway and jump out just before it erupted in flames this morning.
The woman was forced to stopped her white 4WD on the median strip of the highway, near Kent Ave in Croydon, before the car became engulfed in fire about 10.20am.
Croydon police Sergeant Michaela McIntyre said the driver and the car had been involved in a small collision earlier in the morning.

She said the driver said the car appeared fine to drive after the incident, and was only leaking a bit of liquid.
It is believed an electrical fault in the car then caused the fire.
Sgt McIntyre confirmed the driver was not injured.
The MFB and Ambulance Victoria were both called to the scene as the car burned between passing traffic.
