Manchester Rd, Mooroolbark carjacking, woman arrested in Box Hill

A taxi has been stolen in a midday Mooroolbark carjacking. The man was driving a woman from Lilydale when she allegedly pulled out a syringe.

A taxi driver has allegedly been threatened with a syringe before having his car stolen in Mooroolbark.

The driver ran away as his female passenger allegedly made off with the taxi but was soon stopped while driving through Box Hill by police.

Yarra Ranges detective Sergeant Ross McDonald said the alleged carjacking happened on Manchester Rd near Diane Crescent about 12.30pm.

Sgt McDonald said the driver picked the woman from Lilydale before she alleged threatened the man with a syringe.

He said the man fled and the woman allegedly took off.

Sgt McDonald said the woman was later being arrested and taken back to Lilydale police station.
