Chirnside Park Sporting Globe opening December in time for Christmas
Coronavirus restrictions are only weeks away from lifting, and Chirnside Park’s newest pub opens near Reading Cinema not long after — in a COVID-safe way, of course. Here’s what you can look forward to when eventually stepping inside.

For those itching to get out and meet friends and family at a pub near home, we have some good news for you.
The Sporting Globe at Chirnside Park shopping centre is on track to open mid-December — just in time for Christmas.
It will be the second venue for the outer east, after its Knox Ozone Sporting Globe opening last year.
Construction on the $6 million sports bar started last year at the front of Reading Cinemas and now staff are only a couple of months away from welcoming the outer east community through the doors.
Sporting Globe chief executive James Sinclair, who grew up in Coldstream, said the team was really excited to open in Chirnside Park.
He said the team had prepared for a COVID-safe reopening of its venues across Australia.
Mr Sinclair said both regional venues, Geelong and Ballarat, had already reopened and were constantly booked out.
He expected reopening Melbourne venues would be similar to regional Victoria with social distancing for diners both inside and outside.
He said there measures that had been installed to make sure safety was a priority was a digital guest registry, which records contact details of patrons as soon as they entered the pub.
He said there was a beacon on every table which allowed patrons to order from their own smartphone and have their food and drinks delivered directly to their tables.
Mr Sinclair said there was plenty of room to make sure tables were at a safe distanced both inside, outside and on the rooftop, which has weatherproof roofing and heating.
