An L-plater has been arrested after she allegedly led police on an early morning pursuit for more than an hour through Melbourne’s east in an unregistered car.

Officers first spotted the 26-year-old woman while patrolling at a BP service station on EastLink in Scoresby about 2.25am on Tuesday.

The woman was allegedly behaving aggressively towards staff and officers tried to speak to her, but she then got into a blue Ford sedan and drove off towards Croydon.

Police followed the car to Canterbury Rd and tried to intercept it, but the woman allegedly failed to stop.

Officers then called on the air wing for assistance and tracked the car as the woman drove through suburbs including Box Hill, Malvern and Glen Iris.

The car went over stop sticks deployed by officers in Collier Rd in Burwood, but continued on before eventually coming to a stop on the Monash Freeway near the Warrigal Rd on-ramp about 3.30am.

Police arrested the female driver and later discovered the car was unregistered and had stolen number plates.

The woman, of no fixed address, was later released and is expected to be charged on summons with dangerous driving and other traffic related offences.

Any witnesses or anyone with information can contact Crime Stoppers on 1800 333 000.
