A Lilydale family has thanked the community for a flood of offers to help after their business was hit by graffiti vandals.
When mechanic Shaun Wyss got to work at Erickson Auto Repairs on Cavehill Rd on Friday, February 15, he found blue graffiti sprayed across the bright yellow walls of the building.
Mr Wyss’ father and business owner Peter Wyss, who is fighting cancer, reached out on Facebook asking if anyone recognised the tags.

He was taken aback by the responses.
“Have you got the paint? I’ll come and paint over it for you,” one poster said.
Others said: “I can come donate some time to repaint if you have some of the yellow”, and “I’m happy if you have paint to paint it for you”.
Shaun Wyss said it had been a stressful time.
“I came in at 7.45am and just saw all the graffiti on the walls,” he said.
“I was pretty shattered.
“It’s a kick while you’re down sort of situation.”
He said his father was diagnosed with esophageal cancer in April 2018, but it’s since spread to his brain.
Shaun Wyss thanked the community for their kind comments on his father’s Facebook post.
“There were so many people offering to help us and we’d like to thank the community for its support,” he said.
“There are so many nice people around here, we do really appreciate it.”
Mr Wyss has since had the graffiti covered with paint.
Yarra Ranges community safety officer Senior Constable Linda Hancock encouraged graffiti victims to log any incidents in VandalTrak app, which captures and matches tags and can be used as evidence against a vandal.
Anyone who saw the incident is asked to phone Crime Stoppers.
