A MAJOR drug ring has been smashed after police targeted homes in Knox as part of a covert operation.
In a series of raids as part of Operation Wipeout, plain-clothed officers arrested five people and seized a large haul of money and tens of thousands of dollars worth of illegal drugs.
The largest raid was on Tuesday afternoon, September 18, when detectives raided a Harley Street North home in Knoxfield.

Police seized 170 ecstasy tablets, 90 LSD tabs, almost half a kilogram of cannabis, 28g of ice and smaller amounts of cocaine and “magic mushrooms”.
Police believe the haul would have been worth at least $25,000 if it had hit the streets. Investigators also found $52,500 in cash, believed to be the proceeds of drug dealing.
A 34-year-old woman and a 40-year-old man were arrested at the scene.
Both have since faced Melbourne Magistrates’ Court where the woman was granted bail on strict conditions while the man was remanded in custody.
Police will allege those arrested during the raid were running a commercial drug trafficking business from the property.
Officers from the scene said the home was protected by “an extensive surveillance network” and the alleged dealers used an elaborate coded system to sell drugs.
Properties in Endeavour Hills and Wantirna were also raided. The operation is ongoing.
Sergeant Elliott McGibbony said Operation Wipeout had been a resounding success so far.
“This type of crime has a flow-on effect in terms of both the violent nature and the volume of crime and we want to assure the public we take an extremely dim view on this behaviour,” he said.

Sgt McGibbony said he was confident the raids have put a large dent in drug dealing activities in the eastern suburbs.
“We are confident we have dismantled a well organised drug trafficking syndicate operating in the eastern suburbs that was supplying drugs to local users — this is a win for us and a win for the local community.”
