A notorious Kilsyth rapist has been jailed again for breaching his sex offenders registry reporting requirements less than a year after he was released from jail.

Leigh Bradley Youlton, 46, pleaded guilty to three breaches of his sex offenders registry reporting requirements after he failed to report child contact to police.

Youlton was jailed and placed on the sex offenders registry for life in 2008 after he was convicted of 46 charges including rape, indecent assault and obscene exposure.

His 28 victims ranged in age from 12 to 89, with most being vulnerable retirement home residents living alone.

He was subject to strict reporting obligations and GPS ankle monitoring after he was released from prison in late 2023.

Police officers came to his Wandin North home for a scheduled house visit in August 2024 and spotted a young girl running around the property.

Youlton claimed he did not know the girl, but his GPS tracker later showed he drove her around on three occasions since he was released from jail.

Youlton did not report this to the sex offenders registry like he was obligated to and denied to police he knew the child.

Magistrate Jennifer Tregent said Youlton could have had “no doubt” of his reporting requirements after he claimed in court he did not know he had to report the child interaction.

“It is clearly completely untrue you did not know,” she said.

“This is extremely serious offending.”

Ms Tregent jailed Youlton for three months for the breaches.
