A Kilsyth man has been arrested after he allegedly scuffled with police while trying to rip a dashcam from a sports car which was going to be used as police evidence.

The 65-year-old was phoned by his wife after police stopped the 52-year-old woman allegedly fanging down Stud Rd in Wantirna South at 140km/h in an 80km/h zone in a Nissan 370Z about 5pm on Tuesday, August 18.

Croydon detective Senior Sergeant Jim Sutherland said the officers interviewed the Kilsyth woman at the scene before impounding her car.

Sen-Sgt Sutherland said the woman’s husband came down after she phoned him, and he asked if they could take a few items from the car.

The man then allegedly tried to remove the dashcam from the sports car, Sen-Sgt Sutherland said.

He said officers told him he could not remove it as it was police evidence, but the man allegedly continued to rip it from the car.

Sen-Sgt Sutherland said the man scuffled with police and was tackled to the ground before being arrested.

The man was taken to Croydon police station and charged with resisting arrest and hindering emergency workers.

He was bailed to appear at the Ringwood Magistrates’ Court on November 10.
