A Yarra Ranges woman allegedly on two different types of drugs was caught drink driving and speeding in Warburton.

The 48-year-old was stopped by police after haring down the Warburton Highway at 134km/h in an 80km/h zone about 3.45pm on Sunday, August 16.

Yarra Ranges highway patrol Sergeant Neil Campbell said the woman was a disqualified driver who was allegedly driving with a blood-alcohol level above .05.

Sgt Campbell said there was also allegedly cannabis and ice in her system.

Police impounded the woman’s car and she will be charged on summons with drink driving, drug driving, speeding and driving while disqualified.

“Unfortunately there is too much of this going on these days,” Sgt Campbell said.

He said just because police were manning the coronavirus roadblock in Coldstream did not mean there was no officers patrolling elsewhere.

Sgt Campbell said the highway patrol team had recently been expanded and would increase by more members later this year.

“Anyone out in their car after 8pm will be checked for everything,” Sgt Campbell said.
