A lifeline is being provided to the struggling Yarra Valley wedding businesses as Stage 4 coronavirus restrictions threaten to decimate the ailing industry.

Thousands of jobs and millions of dollars in revenue have been lost from the regional tourism sector since the start of the year, as an economic impact study commissioned by Yarra Ranges Tourism revealed the region will lose 2300 to 3300 jobs this financial year.

Find My Perfect Venue founder Camilla Airs has launched a competition to give away a $10,000 wedding to one fortunate couple, but also provide a $21,000 support package to a lucky business.

The website is a virtual go-to for couples who are looking to organise their weddings, with venues, styling ideas, and other inspiration for your big day all in one place.

Mrs Airs said Wedding venues from across Victoria can register and outline how they will spend $10,000 on creating a big day to remember, with the winning location getting a massive business support package worth $21,000.

She said couples vote for their favourite venue, and one lucky pair will “win back” the $10k wedding of their dreams.

“With Victorian bushfires, COVID-19, we’ve had everything thrown at us in 2020, and I wanted to do something positive,” she said.

“There’s been so much uncertainty around what wedding venues can and can’t do and so many events have been postponed or cancelled.

“I want businesses in our industry to know there is a light at the end of the tunnel and that there is someone who wants to help them.”

Mrs Airs said after hearing frustration and sadness coming from venues and other wedding businesses that have closed their doors indefinitely – and some permanently – she wanted to do something to help.

She said the $21,000 prize for the winning venue included a lifetime listing on her website, a website audit and report, blog posts, advertising strategy, a wedding photo shoot, virtual assistant package, champagne bar and dessert box treats for staff meetings.

“I’m so excited to give one lucky venue and a couple something to smile about after the year we’ve all had,” Mrs Airs said.

Victorian venues have until Friday, September 4 to register.

Then, couples will be able to vote on their favourite venue. The wedding date will be negotiable, but will take place after restrictions have lifted.
