A VIOLENT thug who bashed his former partner repeatedly during their 12 month relationship has been jailed.
Mark Schneider, who showed no remorse, made a late plea of guilty to 14 charges of assault in the County Court and was sentenced to serve two years non-parole on August 10.

The 35-year-old from Melbourne’s east was already in prison serving time for other crimes when he had an extra 25 months added for domestic violence between November 2011 and December 2012.
In sentencing Judge Douglas Trapnell said Schneider’s offending was violent, protracted and cowardly.
“It was committed against a woman whom you professed to love, who was entitled to your protection and not violence at your hands,” Judge Trapnell said.
“The offending involved a gross breach of trust. Moreover, much of it was committed in the victim’s home where she had a right to feel safe.”
During the 12 month relationship, Schneider slapped, punched, kicked, spat and verbally abused the victim.
Court documents revealed during one incident Schneider karate chopped his then partner in the throat, and grabbed the woman’s neck in a “vice-like” grip before slapping her numerous times in the face.

He yelled at her: “You made me like this, you [swears] push me to this point. You make me do this, it is all your fault.”
In a victim impact statement, Schneider’s former partner said the abuse had a “devastating” impact on her.
In court documents Judge Trapnell said the victim’s statement described how the abuse had turned her from a “bubbly, independent and outgoing” woman, into someone who struggled, was scared, timid and “messed up”.
“Her brief relationship with you led to her living in a state of fear, particularly of being found by you,” Judge Trapnell said.
“Since these events she has apparently being diagnosed with post-traumatic stress disorder and anxiety for which she says she has received psychological therapy.”
Schneider was sentenced to three years in prison, with a two year non-parole period.
