Yasin Atli, the owner of Jimmy’z Kebabs Boronia, was convicted and fined $20,000 in Ringwood Magistrates’ Court in September last year for scores of offences under the Food Act, including:

— failing to keep the premises clean with no accumulation of food waste, dirt and grease

— failing to ensure equipment and food contact surfaces were clean and sanitary

— failing to have easily accessible handwashing facilities

— failing to store potentially hazardous food under temperature control

— failing to have floors that could be properly cleaned

— failing to provide walls and ceilings that were sealed to prevent the entry of dirt, dust and pests; and

— failing to properly dispose of food that was not fit for human consumption

The breaches date back to May 1, 2015, and include several contraventions of clean-up orders.

One breach related to the business not being registered with the appropriate authority on January 28 last year.

The restaurant has been added to the State Government’s convictions register website, joining Food Star Knox City and Captain America’s Hamburger Heaven.

On its website, the eatery advertises it has “Melbourne’s best kebabs and HSPs (halal snack packs).

On the restaurant’s Facebook page, a visitor’s post advertises the ‘JIMMYZILLA’ halal snack pack challenge, a combination of hot chips, shaved meats and sauce.

“The challenge is to finish the lot within the 12 minutes 6 seconds record time frame to win your photo on the wall plus a prize of $200,” the post reads.
