A man has been arrested after an alleged stash of firearms and roughly $20,000 of allegedly stolen tools were found at a Ringwood home.

Whitehorse detectives raided the home in Heywood St, which is near Ringwood’s Proclamation Park, about 10am on Tuesday, July 20.

Senior Constable Brad Ortland said the raid was part of an ongoing operation investigating thefts from cars in the Whitehorse and Maroondah areas.

He said four firearms, including three rifles and a shotgun, were allegedly seized along with an imitation gel blaster and 3D printing equipment.

A collection of more than 50 allegedly stolen power tools were also found, which had a combined value of about $20,000.

Sen-Constable Ortland said the collection mainly consisted of power tools, sanders and drills.

He said a number of the tools were manufactured by DeWalt and officers were attempting to return them to their original owners.

A 28-year-old Ringwood man was arrested and was hit with 19 charges including manufacturing and trafficking firearms, handling stolen goods and theft offences.

Sen-Constable Ortland said the man had been remanded to face the Melbourne Magistrates’ Court on October 9.

Anyone with information or has had their power tools stolen recently can phone Whitehorse detectives on 8892 3339.
