Park lovers are disappointed plans to revamp the former Olinda Golf Course will go ahead after a hearing at VCAT.
Hills Common Alliance members were left disappointed after it was agreed at a mediation session on March 7 that a Parks Victoria permit would not be challenged at an official VCAT hearing.
This means work on turning the Olinda Monbulk Rd parkland into a football ground, cricket nets, playground, trails, barbecues, shelter, seating and gardens can go ahead.

Last year, the State Government committed almost $4.5 million to Parks Victoria, which is behind the planning application for stage one of the precinct.
Lilydale Leader previously reporter Yarra Ranges councillors approved a planning permit application for the former golf course site last October.
Alliance member Elke Effler said the group was disappointed objections raised were not taken seriously.
“We thought VCAT would note our case,” Ms Effler said.
Ms Effler said it was disappointing to see the park would only be of use to a small minority instead of the greater community.
“It’s disappointing that money seems to rule the day,” she said.
She said it was upsetting there had been a lack of sensitivity for the environment, and also for other park users who travelled from further afield than just the Yarra Ranges.
Yarra Ranges social and economic development director James Collins said following the VCAT session, the council would issue the planning permit for the precinct.
A Parks Victoria spokesman, who did not want to be named, said: “Parks Victoria is not in a position to comment at this time.”
