Two of Australia’s favourite comedians will be doing plenty of late-night exploring in Ringwood later this year.
Dave O’Neil and Glenn Robbins will be teaming up for If I Had To Kill You as part of The Ringwood Carnival on April 3.
Maroondah Council has renamed and changed the theme of the March 27 to April 5 event — originally the Ringwood Fire Festival — in light of this summer’s bushfires.
The festival’s line-up is the same except for fire-twirlers Fuegal Carnal, who have been replaced by circus highwire group Papillon.
It will remain at Ringwood Town Square with all performances inside a giant circus tent.
O’Neil and Robbins will perform a live game show which aims to get participants to reveal things they’ve never told anyone.
“There’s different rounds like ‘embarrassing moments’ and ‘brush with fame’, and we tell our own stories,” O’Neil said.
“You’ll go away from it with stories you can tell at work on Monday.”
O’Neil, who grew up in Mitcham and learnt to drive in the Eastland carpark, performed with Anthony ‘Lehmo’ Lehmann at last year’s festival.
He said they hit Ringwood’s Manhattan Hotel after the gig — and he’s planning to also take Robbins on a post-show adventure around town.
“We went to look for the revolving dancefloor but we couldn’t find it, so we stocked up in the buffet,” O’Neil said.
“This time I reckon we’ll go for a post-gig walk around Ringwood Lake.”

O’Neil and Robbins will be joined by two special guests during the show.
But Robbins said one of his famous characters, outback adventurer Russell Coight, won’t be making an appearance.
“He (Coight) is busy doing the Kokoda Trail on a motorbike at the moment, it’s working out well for him,” he said.
