Huge fight breaks out in pub following UFC title fight

A PUB in Melbourne’s east appeared to turn into a UFC octagon yesterday as more than six punters took to brawling after a13-second UFC featherweight title bout.

A video posted to Facebook, captured at Ringwood’s Manhattan Hotel on Canterbury Road, shows attendees at the venue watching on as two men initially go toe-to-toe.

Security is nowhere to be seen.

One of the men involved says “hold this bag” as he passes a satchel to a friend before another man is seen to kick a fellow patron in the chest.

More fights then appear to break out across the room, with tables and chairs crashing to the floor, with security seemingly still nowhere in sight after almost 90 seconds.

One man appears to attempt to take control of the situation, stepping into the middle of the groups and yelling “stop”, but it’s to no avail.

The Manhattan Hotel was contacted this morning, with a manager telling the Herald Sun that it had no comment to make on the matter.

The video titled ‘Fights at the Manhattan after the UFC’ has been viewed more than 200,000 times since it was uploaded about 5pm yesterday.

The man who filmed it said on Facebook: “I didn’t get an invite for the fight so I just filmedit, lasted way longer than the main event fight.”

Several police units attended the hotel just after 5pm following reports of a brawl both inside the bar and in the car park.

A Victoria Police spokesman said that a number of those involved had left the premises by the time police had arrived, with no remaining patrons wanting to make a complaint.

The hotel, operated by the Australian Leisure and Hospitality Group, boasts “a gaming room, two separate TABs, six function rooms ... and one of Melbourne’s best beer gardens” on its website, which also includes advertisements for its “model waitresses” on Friday afternoons.
